Describe the Resource:
Linking starter and plenary
All names of the students are put into a hat or wallet.
At the beginning of the lesson, everyone picks out a name and they are not allowed to discuss this name with anyone else in the class.
Their task is to observe this person throughout the lesson as they will be giving back ‘constructive criticism’ at the end of the lesson.
At the end of the lesson students are asked to sit in silence and on a post it note they are to write down
“wow!” – something good that they observed
“now!” – something they need to improve on.
They then give the post-it-notes back to the teacher and the teacher hands it out and they must place the critical note into their books.
The teacher is able to amend it to the lesson. For example if you would like specific examples you can ask the students to write “I want you all to note down of your friend one important question they were able to answer”
It is a good form of peer assessment and class bonding.
