What equipment or Preparation do I need for the activity?

– Pre Qur’anic Arabic Book 3
– Post it notes – two colours would be best
– Marker

Describe the Resource:

The words are written on post it notes. You can either choose to do Arabic to English or English to Arabic.

What: The students each take a post it note from the board and write down the correct meaning.

How: The post it notes are divided into two groups with three bonus words in the middle column of the board. Each post it note is worth 2 points and the middle column worth 5 points – you can write them on a different coloured post it note or put a star on them – (try and make the 5 pointers the words they have learnt most recently and ones that do not come up often).

The group who is able to write down all the definitions correctly and stick them back onto the board gets a bonus of 5 extra points.

Pick two captains and pick the groups according to a mixed ability. It was easy to assess the students and their abilities depending on their contribution towards the task.
